· One study reported that prevalence rates of anorexia in Western countries are higher than they are in other parts of the world. Rates in women in Western countries ranged from 0.1% to 5.7%. · Average onset of anorexia is 17 years.
· Between 0.5 – 3.7% of adolescent and young adult women meet the criteria for Anorexia Nervosa.
· 7 new cases per 100,000 per annum in Australia.
